Brief
For International Human Rights Day and against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Union (EU) in Thailand wished to engage artists in providing a reflexion on the universality of Human Rights as a fundamental trait of each individual and all societies.
Solution
By bringing together a panel of Thai artists from different mediums and generations, we fully orchestrated and coordinated a virtual event with Thai artists to discuss human rights amid COVID-19. We also created content and drove social media and media outreach to generate discussions amongst targeted groups and platforms.
Outcome
An artist's work reflects their observation of what goes on around them, and their work can sometimes motivate actions and inspire positive changes in society. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this Human Rights Day did not allow for the public to attend. The creation of a dedicated and real-time managed online streaming platform allowed to monitor and manage interactions and questions, enhancing debate around the role of artists in promoting human rights, but more generally on the universality of these rights.
The design of supporting communication material and coordination with media and government partners also increased public visibility and dissemination of knowledge on various platforms in Thailand, reminding the importance of human rights on its international day.
